Paul David Ailing, age 66, born September 12,1950, departed this world on July 30, 2017.

He is preceded in death by parents Robert “Bob” and Beulah “Boots” Ailing, and brother Robert Lee Ailing Jr.

He is survived by brother, Ron (Geri) Ailing; son, Robert (Rachel) Ailing; 2 grandchildren; and numerous friends.

Paul was a well-known craftsman having been the blacksmith for the Ohio Village for 14 years as well as a blacksmith/jewelry instructor for the Cultural Arts Center in Columbus for 4 years. He was an active member in multiple organizations including the Misplaced Vikings Co., The Lost Vikings Hoard, the Irish Living History Society, revolutionary and civil war reenactments, and was one of 3 founding members of the Mid-Ohio Blacksmiths.

A memorial service will be held at the chapel of Forest Lawn Cemetery, 5600 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43213, on September 8th from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., with a gathering to follow at the home of Robert and Rachel Ailing.

Additionally, there will be a memorial service and fundraiser held at the Cultural Arts Center, 139 W Main St, Columbus, OH 43215, planned for mid to late September. Dates are pending at this time, but will be posted to social media once finalized.

A celebration of life will also take place November 10th at the Ashville Park shelter house, 100 Walnut St, Ashville, OH, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. All are welcome to come celebrate Paul's life and time with us.
