Robert Lee Dupler, age 71, was called home by his wife on Sunday, September 9, 2018.
Bob, to those who knew him, was a dedicated sailor, husband, dad, and grandfather.
He was born September 15, 1946 to the late Earl and Elsie Dupler. He married Ramona Kay Bennett on June 5, 1975, and together they raised six children. As a career Navy man, they moved from Columbus to St. Petersburg and then throughout Florida and the Carolinas.
In 22 years as a Navy Sonar Technician, he traveled the world, soaking up sights that most of us could only imagine. His tours included the USS Sampson during Vietnam, the USS Engage, MOTU 12, the USS Doyle during the Persian Gulf crisis, and MOTU 10. Upon retiring in 1992 he became a contractor training the Taiwanese Navy. He finally returned to Columbus where he spent 20 years working for the Omegadyne Corp. His work ethic, to never miss a day and always be on time, was instilled in him by his father, and has been passed on to his own children.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife Ramona.
He is survived by his children, Brian, Randy, Kim, Terry, Tim, and Nikki; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, September 14 at COOK & SON-PALLAY FUNERAL HOME, 1631 Parsons Ave., where service will take place 11:00 A.M. Saturday. Interment with military honors at Obetz Cemetery.
