Willie Daniel Carethers

Willie Daniel Carethers of Fitzgerald, GA was born August 7, 1928 and finished his earthly course June 7, 2018, following a brief illness.

He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1957 and remained faithful until his death, serving as a full-time minister and elder for many years.

Survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Gabrella; children, Wilma Gilchrest, Shirley Carethers, Deborah Carethers, and William Michael (Donna) Carethers; devoted granddaughter, Danielle Carethers; 19 other grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents John and Evelyn (Reid) Carethers; siblings John (Bernice) Carethers, Ella (Jesse) Stinson, Margaret (John) Dykes; children Arthur Jerome Carethers and Tina Carethers; and grandson David Carethers.

He retired from USPS in 1976 and later carried newspapers for The Columbus Dispatch.

He will be sorely missed by countless friends and extended family, including those he taught about God.  His infectious laugh will be a favorite memory of all who had the privilege to know him. Memorial Service 11:30 a.m., Friday, June 15 at 2505 Lockbourne Rd., 43207
