Bettie A. Wilson, age 91, passed away Novmeber 2, 2021. She was born on February 13, 1930 to James and Mabel Davis in Raleigh, West Virginia. She was the sixth of fourteen children born to them.
Bettie graduated from Stratton High School and later married Johnnie Dalton. From this union two children were born, Clarence and Bettie Marie. Bettie later relocated to Columbus, Ohio where she and Johnnie were divorced.
Bettie later was wed to the Rev. Leon Wilson where they had a blended family of nine children. She went to nursing school and became a Registered Nurse. She worked doing private nursing until she lost her eyesight. She then attended Trinity Lutheran Seminary where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Theology. She later obtained her Master’s Degree in Divinity.
Bettie was a devout Christian working in the church, teaching, organizing, singing, and filling-in wherever her help was needed. She was a soloist and enjoyed singing quite often.
Bettie’s two children are deceased.
She leaves behind to mourn her departure two sisters, Evelyn Watson and Virginia Hall; and one brother, Joe Davis; seven step-children; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
