Daniel Joseph Smith, age 76, peacefully transcended the bonds of Alzheimer’s Disease on February 6, 2020. He was surrounded by his loving family and the caring staff at Crown Pointe Care Center and Bella Hospice Care.
He was a graduate of Linden McKinley High School (1961) and Franklin University. He served in the US Navy and was a member of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 189. He was dedicated to his family and to serving those less fortunate as a member of the New Albany Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jeanette Diane; children, Heather Ridinger and Sean Smith; grandchildren, Eva Knox (Zachary) and Kristal Ridinger (Angie); great-grandson, Gideon Knox; siblings, Clayton (Julie) Smith, Mike (Elsie) Smith, Carolyn (Howard) Huntzinger; brothers-in-law, James Bozzacco and Andy Anderson; many nieces and nephews and their families; his devoted caregivers at Crown Pointe Care Center, Heartland Manor Care, and Bella Care Hospice; and the many friends he made at the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 189, through his love of golf and as a member of the New Albany Lions Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oren and Grace (Swift) Smith; sisters Patricia Anderson and Virginia Bazzacco.
Family will receive friends 11:00 A.M. to 12:45 P.M. Saturday, February 29, 2020 in the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 93 W. Weisheimer Rd, Columbus, OH where the Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 PM., Reverend Kathleen Fowler officiating. Cremation services entrusted to Cook & Son-Pallay Funeral Home, Columbus.
