David Carl Merz

David Carl Merz, 93, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 16, 2023 in Columbus, Ohio in his lifelong residence of 40 years with the comfort of Mount Carmel Home Hospice.

He was born on August 12, 1929 to the late William and Ethel Merz of Circleville, Ohio. In addition to his late parents and all siblings; he is preceded in death by his loving wife Loretta "Lori" Merz of 57 years, and children Tom Merz and Kathy Watrous.

He is survived by his children, Mike (Karen) Merz, Marty (Debra) Merz, and Don (Suzette) Smals; granddaughter and caregiver, Loretta V. Smals (Nicole Vizedom); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was a lover of his motorcycles, football and Nascar.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for an interment ceremony and celebration of life on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Green Lawn Cemetery, located at 1000 Greenlawn Ave., Cols, Ohio 43223 (Garden Mausoleum) promptly at Noon. It would have been his 94th Birthday!
