Donald Joseph Gregory

Donald "Greg" Joseph Gregory of Hilliard (Columbus), OH passed away October 13, 2023 on his 86th birthday.  

He was born October 13, 1937 in Toledo, OH to Donald and Thelma Gregory. He was then raised outside Brampton, Ontario, Canada. He married Helen Yeager October 5, 1984.

Donald joined the Marines in 1955 and was active duty until 1975, doing 2 tours in Vietnam and later became a recruiter. He retired from the Reserves in 1985.

In 1975 he earned an Associate of Arts degree from Columbia College. After the military, he had several jobs including manager for Burger Chef in southeastern OH and finally 17 years at A. Bruce Crock in Columbus, OH before retiring in 2002.

He never left home without a Marines baseball hat and he loved his Yorkie, Ruby Rose. He was an avid fan of OSU and Steelers football. His children have fond memories of him singing and playing his guitar. He enjoyed woodworking, making things like birdhouses and yard decorations.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, his parents, infant son Duane, sisters Joyce Radina, Carol Herrera, and Sherry Nott, brother Chuck Stewart, stepchildren Phyllis Williams and Thomas Yeager.

He is survived by his children, Rita (Rick) Elkins, Jonora (Randy) Dillon, Douglas (Denise) Gregory, and Kathleen (Richard) Vanderpool; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Fran) Stewart; sisters, Nancy Brotko and Susan (Steve) Schurdell; 2 stepchildren, Daniel (Debbie) Yeager and Barbara (Roger) Johnson; 8 step-grandchildren, 20 step-great-grandchildren, and 1 step-great-great-grandchild.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
