Frances Allen Obituary

Frances Marie Jenkins Allen, age 86, was born to Henry Allen Jenkins and Ada Mae Riley Jenkins on October 13, 1934 in Jackson Township, Muskingum County, Ohio. Having completed her earthly journey, Frances went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday August 22, 2021.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ada Jenkins, sisters; Mary Alice Jenkins Shuman, Norma Jenkins Beall, and Donna Jenkins Roberts. Brothers; Robert Jenkins, Thomas Jenkins, Carl Jenkins, Roy Jenkins and brothers-in-law Clyde Kenneth Thomas, John Shuman, and Jim Beall. Also preceding her in death were her father and mother in-law, Henry and Beulah Allen, brother-in-law Robert Allen, and sisters-in-law Maxine Allen and Mary Allen.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Roland G. Allen, Sr.; son, Roland G. Allen, Jr.; daughters Sharon Allen, Hazel Allen and Dorothy Allen Spain and son-in-law, Stephen Spain. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Jessica Spain, Stacey Spain Hanel, Danielle Allen, grand son-in-law Daniel Hanel and great grandchildren, Tyler Hanel and Madelyn Hanel. She is also survived by sisters, Barbara Jenkins Thomas and Charlotte Jenkins; brothers and sisters-in-law: James and Dolly Jenkins, Betty Jenkins, Ernest and Shirley Jenkins, Joseph Roberts, Earl and Cindy Jenkins and many, many nieces and nephews.

Frances and Roland moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1967 from Newark, OH. In May 1969 they purchased a home on South Ohio Ave. where they lived for 53 years and where Roland continues to reside.

Frances loved to sew! Rarely was she seen in the house without a needle and thread in her hand. She made clothes for her children, pillows, blankets, and mended many articles of clothing. More than sewing, she loved to care for her family and became a homemaker after marrying Roland.

She knew Jesus as her personal Savior and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Southside Baptist Church located at 1621 S. High St. Columbus, OH. The funeral service will take place after visitation and will be officiated by Pastor Bill Henderson. Interment will immediately follow at Green Lawn Cemetery, 1000 Greenlawn Ave. Columbus, OH.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Sage Park Assisted Living and Memory Care, Kindred Hospice, Southside Baptist Church and to Cook & Son-Pallay Funeral Home for their love and support.

Memorial contributions can be made to one of the following: Southside Baptist Church, American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association, and the American Heart Association.
