JERRONE GIVENS Obituary

JERRONE ALLEN GIVENS was born on March 17, 1969, the second son to Sharon and James Givens, in Columbus, Ohio. On March 21, 2024, Jerrone was called home too soon at the age of 55.

Jerrone grew up in Brittany Hills, a community that had embraced him as a pillar of the community. This is where Jerrone met, and went to school with, some of his lifelong friends. Jerrone graduated from Beechcroft High School and attended Southeast Career Center, where he received his certificate as a Building Specialist. This is where he grew his passion for construction. Jerrone was a warm, kind-hearted man who shared his trade and life-long skills with his children and the youth in the community. He was welcoming to all and opened his door to many people. He was an entrepreneur, starting a variety of businesses such as a pizza shop, a salon, a recording studio, and a carry-out, to name a few. Not to mention all the houses he worked on, some building from the ground up. Plus he was the founder of JAGCO.

His mind was always wondering and thinking of new ideas to start new projects and businesses. He was definitely a dream catcher; anything he envisioned, he pursued. Jerrone was big on family. Anything he was invited to, he showed up. He was very supportive of his children and grandchildren, always attending every activity and all birthday parties. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as golfing, fishing, camping, and loved a good comedy show for a good laugh, and lately traveling and seeing the world.  He was a lover of animals. He has a smile that would brighten any room.  Any time he was around, it was always a good time and great vibes. Jerrone loved a great meal as well; his favorite restaurant was the Golden Corral. He truly loved a good bargain. He got a kick out of going to the auction and bidding on any and everything.

Family and friends would describe Jerrone as supportive, adventurous, creative talented, observant, funny, very knowledgeable, a shoulder to lean on, and a joy to be around.

Jerrone is preceded in death by his parents Sharon and James Givens, brother James (Monty) Givens, and son Dwayne Burgess. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Jerrone Jr.; daughters, Nickeita, Jeronica, Sha'yonna, Tansem, and Talya; grandmother, Lilian (Granny); sisters, Jeanne and Michelle; brother, Terrell (Bubbs); grandchildren, Melea, Alaina, King, Carmelo, Camelle, Dwayne, Kenyon, Cai'Ari, Charli, Harper, Kash, Cai'Yari, and Keeston; his dog Rock-O; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
