November 28, 1954 ~ December 17, 2023 (age 69) 69 Years Old

JOHN DAVID JONES, affectionately known as "John Boy" was born on November 28, 1954, in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was the third of four children born to John Alfred and Elizabeth Banks Robinson Jones. On December 17, 2023, at the age of 69, John was peacefully called home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with prostate cancer.

John was introduced to the Lord at an early age, and in 1996 he re-dedicated his life. John loved the Lord and developed a deep and personal relationship with him. He has often stated that God gave him a second chance. John was a family man, and loving husband to Ingrid Jones for 23 years. He adored his children and grandchildren. His time spent with family was most precious to him and he treasured every moment.

He was a humble and skillful musician. It was during his time at Smith Junior High School that his passion for music began to flourish under the guidance of Nancy Drummond Arthur. He later graduated from Chillicothe High School and pursued further education at Wilberforce University. While attending Wilberforce University, he majored in music education with a specialization in performance, focusing on piano and voice. Additionally, he served as a resident musician for 4 years while completing his undergraduate studies. Known to many as "Johnny Jones," he was widely recognized as a singer's singer, boasting over 40 years of professional experience. His accomplishments included working alongside Dr. Jonnie Coleman, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Dr. Quander L. Wilson, Sr., Les Brown, Mercer Ellington, and Dr. Lem Joyner of Notre Dame University. John also worked with Professor Gary Patterson in New York City, assisting in vocal training.

John was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and mentor. His legacy of talent, kindness, and passion for music will continue to inspire all who had the pleasure of knowing him. John was predeceased by son, Britten Mathew Jones, and parents, John Alfred and Elizabeth Banks Robinson Jones. He leaves behind a loving and devoted wife, Ingrid Jacobs-Jones; children, David Osceola (Afratidee) Payne, Las Vegas Nevada; Brittney Jones, Columbus, Ohio; D'Jovana (Gavin) Navarro, Columbus, Ohio; Alex Wells, Sidney Ohio; Jonelle Jones and Julia Jones, both of Columbus, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Stephanie (Floyd) Jones-Weatherspoon, Columbus, Ohio; Dr. Robin A. Jones, California; Elder Khandi (Calvin) Jones-Stewart, Columbus, Ohio; nieces. nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. John will be deeply missed by his family and all who were touched by his music and spirit. His memory will forever live on in our hearts. His credo says, "This is what I do, I do it with gratitude." May he rest in peace!
