Jesse Noland Obituary

A Tribute by the Granddaughter of Jesse J. Noland

“Do not let your hearts be troubled.  You believe in God; believe also in me.  My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

Born December 11, 1929, Grandpa was the oldest of 11 siblings.  Grandpa was a soldier (WWII and Korea), a father, a grandfather, and a LEGEND!!!  It was during the Korean War when he met the love of his life, Grandma, via pen-pal.  This union resulted in 50-plus years of marital bliss, which harbored two children: Joseph “Uncle” Rush and Mary “Mom” Noland.  He had an endearing love for family, and he put his passion for cooking to work, working as a cook for most of his career.  He cooked every chance he got, especially for family events.  Grandpa fought prostate cancer and survived a triple by-pass.

Grandpa joined the heavenly choir on December 18, 2019 at approximately 5:00 A.M., leaving behind his grandchildren, William, Amanda (John), and Melissa; great-grandchildren, Amiya, Aliyah, and William III (William’s children), Ava and Elijah (Amanda’s children), and Alyssa, Darren, and Alivia (Melissa’s children); siblings, Frank (Marilyn), Larry (Judy), David, Shirley (Bill), Kay, Kathryn, Mary, and Alice; and many other family members and friends.

Grandpa reunited with his wife of over 50 years, Rose; daughter, Mary; step-son, Joseph; grandson, William II; mother, Margaret; father, Lawrence; brothers, Henry and Bill; grandparents and other family members.

The Noland and Harris families would like to thank each and everyone who sent prayer, texts, social media messages; my CDC family for always being there, Columbus West Park staff, hospital staff, and those who haven’t been mentioned…  Thank you for all your kind words and encouragement during this time of bereavement.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020.  Visitation with the family from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. at Cook & Son-Pallay Funeral Home, 1631 Parsons Ave., where service will follow at 3:00 P.M.

Repast to follow at Columbus West Park, 1700 Heinzerling Drive.
