RONALD TROTMAN, JR. Obituary

RONALD ROLAND TROTMAN, JR., the beloved son of Althea Celeste Merchant Trotman and the late Dr. Ronald Trotman, Sr., born March 13th, 1988  in Nashville, Tennessee,  passed away Friday, January 19th, 2024 at age 35.

He swam for NAC (Nashville Aquatic Club) the same Swim club as Olympic swimmer Alex Walsh, when he lived in Nashville, TN. He was a good swimmer and won many medals. When he lived in Atlanta, he swam for CAD  ( City of Atlanta Dolphins) and qualified to swim in the 16th Annual Black History Swim Meet in Washington DC at the Capitol East Natatorium Center. He was an excellent  swimmer who qualified to compete in the Junior Olympic Swim Meet in Hampton, VA, when he was 13 years old. He played on the WCCI (World Changers Church International) Wariors Football & Baseball Teams (under Cam Newton's father, Coach Cecil Newton), and won many awards and 2nd place in the Football Felowship championship. Friends and family lovingly remember and celebrate these accomplishments of Ronald, and were often able to witness his love and talent for swimming and other sports. After moving to  Auburn, Alabama, he attended Southern Union College, and and was a very hard worker, mostly at Car Manufacturing Plants, such as Honda in Columbus, OH and Kia Sub-contractors in Auburn, Alabama.

In addition to his father, Ronald is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Mildred Malik and Ronald Trotman, maternal grandparents, Willie and Dessie Merchant. He leaves to cherish his memory, mother Althea; sister Desiree; brother Isaiah; his children, Ayana and Kykaveon Laron Riley and his mother Tiffany Riley; special cousins, T.C.Pendelton, Cortez Liverpool and Brandon Watson; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends, especially Brent, Eldred, John, Jonathen, Justin, Cam, Reginald, Big Mike, Rashawd and Shiyan.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 17, from 12 noon till 2:00 p.m. at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, 1101 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Birmingham, AL 35211 (205-251-5173).

A  Farewell Celebration of Life will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 25, at First United Brethren Church (Hope Center), 496 S. Wheatland Ave., Columbus, OH 43204.
