Wayman Stepp Obituary

On Wednesday, December 16, 2020, our very special loved one, Wayman Eugene Stepp, finished his earthly journey and moved to his heavenly resting place to be with the Lord.  His dear wife stayed devotedly by his side at this time.

He was a loving and devoted husband; father, brother, uncle, and friend. He touched many lives with his generosity, leaving behind for all who knew his generous spirit.

The family moved to Columbus, Ohio from Black Mountain, NC in1963. Gene decided early in life that he would be his own boss.  He was the owner of a successful ARCO service station and then a successful owner of a towing company, A&W towing.  Gene had a love of cars and at one point owned his own race car who he let his kids name "The Incredible Hulk."

If you knew Gene you would know that he had the biggest heart. He loved his kids and was the greatest father anyone could ever ask for.

Gene was a family man and leaves behind his loving wife of 24 years, Debbie Stepp, whom he loved more than life itself; his kids, Fredrick (Demetra) Abrams, Phoenix, Arizona, Regina (Timothy) Junior, Atlanta, Georgia, Sharneen Edwards, Cincinnati, Ohio, Wayman Eugene Stepp, Biloxi Mississippi, and Carlos William Neal, Phoenix, Arizona; Debbie's kids who became his kids in his eyes, Crissy (Renshawn) Lomax, Aaron, Tricia, and Ronnie Ray Lambert, all living in Columbus, Ohio; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with special mention of Hernandez Henderson, Ri’sha Stepp, Jonathan Jordan, Ceara Stepp, Kaine Courtney, Mikila, Koltyn, and AJ Lambert; sister, Diane Stepp; nieces and nephews, including Wynette Collins and Michael Flack; and a host of friends.

Preceded in death by parents, Wayman and Almer Stepp-Wilkins and stepfather James Wilkins; sister, Brenda Forney; brothers, Archie and Nick Stepp; and granddaughter, Artesian Stepp .

The Chain ---

We knew little that morning

That God was going to call your name.

In Life we LOVED You Dearly.

In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you,

You did not go alone, for part of us went with you,

That day God called you HOME.

 You left us peaceful memories,

Your love is still our guide:

And though we cannot see you,

You are always at our side.

 Our family chain is broken,

and nothing seems the same,

But as God calls us one by one the chain will link again.
