Helen (Calloway) Jones

September 6, 1922 ~ September 24, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old


Helen Calloway Jones, age 95, was born on September 6, 1922 to Dr. Elijah Arthur Calloway and Doris Marie (Jackson) Calloway in Columbus, Ohio.   She transitioned to the home of her Heavenly Father on Sunday September 24, 2017. 

Helen graduated from East High School with honors in 1939.  She received Bachelor's and Master’s degrees from The Ohio State University in Education and became a certified Physical Therapist from the University of Iowa.  She remained a 4.0 student throughout her collegiate years.

Helen was employed by Columbus Public Schools for over 30 years as a Physical Therapist.

She was a faithful member of New Birth Christian Ministries and a member of the AKA sorority.

Helen will always be remembered for her smile, selflessness, positive attitude and boundless energy.  Despite challenges, she never complained and remained concerned for others until the end.

She was predeceased by her husband James A. Jones; her parents; siblings Dr. Arthur Calloway, Carol Carter, Lois Calloway, Gwendolyn Woodward; and nephew John W. Calloway.  She leaves to cherish her memory, her niece, Doris Calloway Moore; great-niece, Ashley Snyder; great-nephew, Benjamin John Calloway; and many friends.

The family would also like to acknowledge with deep gratitude and appreciation the kindness and expert care provided by Dr. Rebecca Grant, Kensington Place staff, Capital City Hospice, and the New Birth Christian Ministries family.

Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 2 at New Birth Christian Ministries, 3475 Refugee Road., Columbus, Ohio  43232 followed by homegoing service at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
